Our Programs

The Outlet offers a variety of programs for youth to explore their talents, build their skills, and reach their goals.

Mentorship program

Male youth achieve better outcomes when a male role-model is helping to guide them through life’s many challenges. At the Outlet, every boy and young man is paired with an adult male mentor. Mentors and mentees spend at least one hour per week together— a time when they can participate in educational workshops, attend speaker events, visit colleges and trade schools, and work on building a life-long relationship.

Social & emotional Education

At The Outlet, all youth attend an 8-week social and emotional workshop facilitated by a licensed psychologist. Youth are also offered free individual counseling sessions made possible through a partnership with the University of Illinois’ School of Social Work Master’s Program.

College & career readiness

There are a variety of different paths a child can take to reach their goals. With The Outlet’s College & Career Readiness program, youth can explore their talents, develop their skills, and attain their goals. Youth work with a life coach, college admission counselor, and their individual mentors to prepare for college and/or career path.

Meal train

The Outlet’s Meal Train program runs three days a week ensuring every child at The Outlet receives a warm dinner. Community groups and members volunteer to prepare a home cooked meal at The Outlet facility. Want to help?
