The Outlet establishes scholarship with $25,000 donation from Aetna

Marcus Bertrand Butler, Sr., Mentor at The Outlet, also known as “Brother Marcus”, gained his eternal wings on September 28, 2020.

Brother Marcus served the Springfield community for over a decade but dedicated his entire personal and professional life to helping others in any way that he could. Brother Marcus was an invaluable force at the Outlet and could always be found spending time with and encouraging his mentees and other youth in the community.

Brother Marcus loved life and his family, but most of all, he loved God. He had a contagious smile and the biggest heart. Even in death, he continued to be of service through the Gift of Hope Foundation. 

Funds raised will be awarded as a college, university or trade school scholarship for youth from single parent households and previously incarcerated individuals.
